The Original Green Eats

Tell me you don’t like chocolate chip cookies.

Don’t tell me. I’ll slap you if you don’t like them.

At any rate, it’s about time for a new segment on Mumbled Minds. Green Eats is all about making delicious food, and pairings of marijuana, if you’re up for that (and it’s legal in your state/country.). This week will feature my personal favorite, the chocolate chip cookie.

  • 2 & 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) kerrygold butter (or the best butter you can get your hands on)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chunks/chips
  • (optional) 1 cup chopped nuts

The crucial part of this recipe is a good butter, second to the butter is a good chocolate chip/chunk. These two items will bring your cookies from good to GREAT. A good vanilla extract can also be the icing on the cake. The rest of the items should be organic, when possible.

Assuming your oven is already preheated to 350F, you’re ready to bake/get baked. Combine all of the “dry” (flour, soda, salt, white sugar) ingredients in a mixing bowl.

Then, while mixing, throw in the brown sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, butter, and chocolate chips/chunks; in that order. Finally, add the nuts. Don’t eat all the dough! You need it!

If you can afford the time to let your dough sit in the fridge for 12-24 hours, do it. This storage will allow the dough to taste even better. I don’t know the science behind it, but you’ll have to trust me on this one. Curve Ball! We’re making cookie bars! Start off by grabbing a 9×13 pan (I prefer and use pyrex glass pans). Unwrap one end of the “high end” butter remaining, and rub it all over the pan. Literally cover every corner, like you’re painting a wall. Your hands will be greasy as all hell after this, so have the dawn ready.

Spread the cookie dough all over the pan, press it into the corners, as it will “melt” only a little bit after heating up. Bake it in the 350F oven for 20 minutes. Check it after 18. It will be done when you see a slight golden color on the very top of the “cookie pillows” that form.

When you remove it from the oven, the cookie bars are like lasagna, you need to let it sit for at least 20 minutes before you cut into them and eat the entire pan.

The pairing to our delicious chocolate chip cookie bars is none other than Master Kush. Assuming you will be enjoying our lovely cookies either after dinner or in the late hours of the day, this indica will leave you in a true state of bliss while enjoying your baked goods.

Make sure that you are settled into the couch with your favorite TV episode or movie queued up, and a few cookie bars ready to go before you indulge in Master Kush. Don’t take my word for it though.

“One of the most powerful strains I’ve ever smoked. Being that it has kush in the name, I thought it was going to be a strong body high, and it was, but it was also quite psychedelic. When smoked in small amounts, it’s good for pain and munchies, and is a relatively social strain, however, if used in excess, I would seriously stay the hell inside.. Not only does it numb your entire body, but definitely alters your perception of images and heightens senses like crazy. Be aware that when I say “excess” I mean five bong rips, half a blunt, and a bowl of the pipe. ***NOT A BEGINNER STRAIN*** (it’s a one hitter for those with weaker minds)”

Until next week, stay frosty.
